about

I wrote this song awhile back and knew it had a place on this record. Specifically, I made it the last track to send a clear message to the world and myself that this newfound confidence in pursuing my dream would not go away. Originally, the song was written as a slow 6/8 jazz tune but I decided to speed it up and give it a firm swinging groove to really drive home my point. Doing this also created a nice pocket for the musicians to really dig in and do some great instrumentation.

lyrics

Well there will come a time when I look ahead and I'll see the light that I always heard was there. I'd always heard that the light was there.

Now have I been mistaken? Cause no matter how hard I squint my eyes I don't see no light. There's only darkness inside. Maybe it was all a lie.

Now life is really hard and money is hard to find. We're all just looking for love and something, I said something to make us feel good inside.

Now my dream it doesn't change. You're gonna see me on a stage and when I look out there I'm gonna sing, I said I'm gonna sing, oh I'm gonna sing to a body in every chair.

I said my dream, it doesn't change. No it never, never, ever, ever changes.
Until my dying day. You're gonna see me...
